ZOROASTRIANISM
-
Religion of Good and Evil.
|
The
Great Prophet Zarathustra (or Zoroaster as he is more
often known in the West) is one of the greatest
religious visionaries of all time. The first to
proclaim a monotheistic faith, to create an ethical
code for his followers, and to proclaim a
proselytizing creed, he stands before and above all
later prophets and founders of religions.
Living about 3600
years ago in the steppes north of the Caspian Sea, he
was born among the Avestan people, who spoke an
ancient Iranian-type language.
Beginning in his
31st year, Zoroaster began to proclaim his revelation,
the fundamental truth of which was that Good and Evil
are eternally different things, and that the two
principles are eternally at war. Good is the creation
and province of God, Ahuramazda; Evil is the province
and emenation of Ahriman (also known as Satan). Within
this framework it is required of everyone that they
practice and live according to Good Thoughts, Good
Words and Good Deeds. |
